New: check a file you already have, without changing it
The resizer answers “make me a file that fits”. The new checker answers the other question: “is the file I already have acceptable?” That matters because re-encoding a photograph that already meets the spec only loses detail, so if a studio gave you something that already fits, the right move is to leave it alone. It reports each requirement separately rather than as one verdict, since knowing a file is 13 KB over the ceiling but otherwise perfect tells you what to do. Format is read from the file’s own signature bytes, which catches an iPhone HEIC renamed to .jpg, the most confusing rejection there is. It also flags a rotation flag that would make a correctly sized photo appear on its side. Nothing is uploaded and the file is not modified.
Fixed: buttons in a second tool rendered unstyled
The button styles lived inside the resizer component’s own stylesheet, and Astro scopes component CSS to that component, so the first tool to reuse the same classes got no styling at all: bare text with an unsized icon stretching the control to several times its height. Buttons are shared furniture and now live in the design system where both tools read from one definition. Nothing about the resizer changed visually.
RRB NTPC added: there is no photo to upload, only a signature
The official FAQ for CEN 06/2025 answers the question directly. Asked what must be uploaded in total, it says all candidates upload their scanned signature, and SC or ST candidates additionally upload a caste certificate for the free travel pass. The photograph is captured live during the application, so there is no RRB NTPC photo size despite what the guides say. The signature is 30 to 49 KB, the tightest window of any exam here, at a minimum of 140 by 60 pixels and 100 DPI, centred in a 35 by 20 mm box on the form.
SBI PO added, with the same four sizes as IBPS
SBI PO asks for the same four documents at the same sizes as IBPS: photograph 200 by 230 px at 20 to 50 KB, signature 140 by 60 px at 10 to 20 KB, left thumb impression 240 by 240 px at 20 to 50 KB, and handwritten declaration 800 by 400 px at 50 to 100 KB. Handy if you are applying for both, though the applications are entirely separate. Note also that SBI asks you to keep about eight printed copies of the same photograph for later stages. Beware searching for this yourself: the advertisement still served at SBI’s most obvious URL is from April 2014.
GATE and CTET added
GATE has the strictest specification of any exam here, constraining four things at once: the photograph must be 200 to 530 px wide and 260 to 690 px tall with a width-to-height ratio between 0.66 and 0.89 at 5 to 600 KB, and the signature 250 to 580 by 80 to 180 px with a ratio between 2.75 and 3.75 at 3 to 300 KB. GATE also asks for 60 to 70% face coverage, looser than the 75 to 80% UPSC and NTA want, so a photograph cropped for those is usually too tight here. CTET, run by CBSE, gives centimetres only: 3.5 by 4.5 cm at 10 to 100 KB for the photograph and 3.5 by 1.5 cm at 3 to 30 KB for the signature, with no DPI stated anywhere in the bulletin.
Fixed: document tabs showed the first document’s dimensions
On exams with more than one document, switching tabs updated the file size and the size meter but not the dimensions, so the signature tab showed the photograph’s pixel size next to the signature’s KB range. That is worse than showing nothing, because it reads as a complete and wrong specification. IBPS, with four documents, was the worst affected. Every tab now shows its own dimensions.
NEET UG added, and the 4 by 6 postcard photo is not an upload
NEET UG requires three image uploads: photograph 10 to 200 KB, signature 10 to 100 KB, and impressions of the fingers and thumbs of both hands at 10 to 200 KB, which almost no other exam asks for. There are no pixel dimensions anywhere in the 124-page bulletin. Separately, the 4 by 6 inch postcard photograph that guides often list with a KB limit is not an upload at all: it is a physical print, and one has to be pasted on a proforma you download with your admit card. NEET also matches your live photograph against the Aadhaar database.
JEE Main added, and it has no pixel size at all
The NTA information bulletin for JEE Main 2026 constrains file size and framing only. Across all 91 pages it never mentions pixels, DPI, resolution or centimetres, so any source quoting a required pixel size for JEE Main is not quoting the bulletin. The photograph is 10 to 200 KB with 80% of the frame filled by your face, ears included, no mask, against a white background. The signature is 10 to 100 KB, not the 4 to 30 KB widely repeated. A live photograph is also captured during the application.
UPSC added, and it needs three signatures, not one
UPSC requires you to sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper, and to upload all three as a single image of 20 to 100 KB at 350 to 500 pixels. It also requires a live photograph captured in the form, matched against the passport photo you upload, which itself must be 20 to 200 KB with your face covering 75% of the frame. Widely published figures of 20 to 300 KB and 350 to 1000 pixels are out of date. The current dated notification confirms the triple signature and points candidates to the instruction page carrying the newer numbers.
IBPS Clerk verified, and covered on the same page as PO
IBPS Clerk, now titled Customer Service Associate, has upload requirements identical to IBPS PO across all four documents: photograph 200 by 230 px at 20 to 50 KB, signature 140 by 60 px at 10 to 20 KB, left thumb 240 by 240 px at 20 to 50 KB, and handwritten declaration 800 by 400 px at 50 to 100 KB. Since the numbers are the same, one page covers both rather than two near-identical ones. One difference is recorded: the Clerk application also wants your class 10 certificate as a PDF under 500 KB.
One SSC page now covers the whole SSC family
SSC runs a single One Time Registration and one application module across CGL, CHSL, MTS, Constable (GD), Delhi Police, Stenographer, CPO and JE, and the notices carry identical upload wording. Rather than publish several near-identical pages, the SSC page now states plainly which examinations it covers. If you have registered for one of them, the photograph and signature on your profile carry over.
SSC CGL no longer accepts an uploaded photograph
Checking the SSC Combined Graduate Level 2026 Notice of Examination showed that the application module now captures the candidate photograph live, and that applications built from a re-photographed existing photo are rejected outright. The SSC CGL page previously offered photo resizing based on older published figures; that has been removed and replaced with an explanation, because preparing a photo file for SSC CGL now leads towards the rejection it was meant to avoid.
SSC signature dimensions corrected to 6.0 × 2.0 cm
The SSC signature requirement is “about 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height) at a resolution of 300 DPI”, which works out to 709 × 236 pixels. Our figure had been 4.0 × 2.0 cm, giving the wrong width and the wrong aspect ratio. The file size range, 10 to 20 KB in JPEG, was already correct.
IBPS PO requirements verified for all four documents
Photograph at 200 × 230 px and 20 to 50 KB, signature at 140 × 60 px and 10 to 20 KB, left thumb impression at 240 × 240 px and 20 to 50 KB, and handwritten declaration at 800 × 400 px and 50 to 100 KB were each checked against the IBPS scanning and upload guidelines and all matched. Also noted on the page: IBPS wants a live captured photo in addition to the uploaded photograph file.
