Files never leave your device. Here’s how that works

What SBI PO requires

State Bank of India specifies an exact size for each file you upload. A photo straight from a phone camera is typically 2 to 6 MB, which every one of these limits will reject, so each file has to be resized and recompressed first.

What trips people up on SBI PO

The numbers match IBPS, but the application does not

SBI sets the same four documents at the same sizes as IBPS: photograph 200 by 230 px at 20 to 50 KB, signature 140 by 60 px at 10 to 20 KB, left thumb impression 240 by 240 px at 20 to 50 KB, and handwritten declaration 800 by 400 px at 50 to 100 KB. That is convenient if you are applying for both, because one set of files serves both. It is also the only thing they share: SBI runs its own recruitment through its own portal, with its own advertisement number, dates and selection process, so you apply separately and track them separately.

Keep about 8 printed copies of the same photograph

The advertisement asks candidates to keep roughly eight copies of the very same photograph used in the application, because it is needed at later stages. This is a printing job rather than a file job, and the important word is 'same': a different sitting, a different shirt or a different crop causes problems at verification. Decide on one photograph, upload it, and get the prints made from that same image.

Scan at 200 DPI or better, and check what landed where

SBI asks for a scanner resolution of at least 200 DPI, and warns specifically about a mistake that is easy to make and hard to undo: uploading the photograph where the signature belongs, or the thumb impression in the declaration slot. Because the four files look similar in a file picker, name them clearly before you start and check each preview after upload.

All four have to be legible, not merely the right size

The advertisement states that the face, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration must each be clearly visible. Hitting the kilobyte range is necessary but not sufficient: a thumb impression compressed until it smudges, or a declaration too soft to read, fails on legibility even at a perfect file size. That is why the tool takes the largest size inside each range rather than the smallest.

How to use this tool

  1. Add your file. Drag in your photo, choose a file, paste it, or use your phone’s camera.
  2. Check the crop. The tool crops to the required shape automatically. Adjust it if you want a different framing.
  3. Let it hit the target. The size meter shows the file converging into the required 20–50 KB range.
  4. Download. The file is saved with a sensible name, ready to upload to the application portal.

Common questions

What photo size does SBI PO require?
SBI PO requires a photograph of 4.5 × 3.5 cm (200 × 230 px) at 20–50 KB in JPEG format. This tool resizes any photo to meet that exactly.
Why does SBI PO keep rejecting my signature?
The most common reason is file size: the signature must be 10–20 KB at 140 × 60 px. A photo taken on a phone is usually far larger, so it needs resizing and compressing before it will upload. Signing in capital letters is also rejected.
How many files does SBI PO need?
4: photograph, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration. Each has its own size requirement, and all of them are on this page as separate tabs. Most resizing tools only handle the photograph, which is why applications get stuck on the thumb impression or the declaration.
What if my image is too small to reach the minimum size?
Some documents have a minimum as well as a maximum, and a small or heavily compressed image can fall under it even at full quality. The tool tells you when that happens instead of handing you a file the portal will reject. The fix is a sharper original: photograph the document again in good light rather than reusing a screenshot.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. All the resizing happens inside your own browser using your device’s own processor. You can verify this by opening your browser’s network tab while you use the tool: no request carries your image.
